It’s been a long time since I’ve done a figment friday so here goes. Let’s try and make it happen again. Mainly because when I find a really interesting piece on Figment I need to tell someone about it soooo here goes everything.
- Gemina by Lindsey Stell.
This story was created a while back for the Good Vs. Evil contest on Figment. The rules were that the characters had to be twins and one of them had to be good while the other had to be evil. You were left to create the story. So what Lindsey did which I personally really enjoyed was that one sister was basically a good angel that gives life and the other took life. It’s an interesting concept in my opinion and I think it was well-written and I hope you guys do too.
2. Coffee by Coolio Dash
This story goes through the motions in the Westwood Diner, there are customers that through small narratives you get to know, and possibly relate to. A man sits there pondering his day after his recent breakup. A young woman does the same wondering about her life as it currently stands, maybe she would be better off if she were still as young as the waitress? Read it and find out what happens. It’s a short and sweet story that deals with life through alternating character points of view.
So there’s somethings for you guys to look into I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. I know they’re pretty short but if you’re like me and your attention span lately only goes for so long then this is a good way to get started again, right?
So I haven’t recommended anything from Figment in a while, and today I have found something worth being recommended again. This time: “The Toy Maker” by Aubrey Campbell. It’s not too long but if you guys have a couple of minutes to spare I think you kids will really enjoy it. The description that Aubrey gives us is this: “The toy maker’s work is renowned all over the world. His toys aren’t simply for play, they’re weapons of destruction, of murder, of bloodshed. When he finally realizes he’s gone too far…it’s too late.” I am a weird person and get interested in stories and books by covers and titles so naturally when I saw the cover for this story I had to at least read the first paragraph. Something about Aubrey’s writing style really drew me in from the start and I read it until the moment where I could have said it escalated quickly if it wasn’t for the fact that from the get-go it was meant to go as far as it did. So go ahead and read that story if it sounds like your cup of tea, and if not well I can hope I will find something better suited for you later on. Have a great weekend!
I know I have been completely MIA lately, but I want to make it up to you all. So while I gather most of my thoughts and decide what exactly would be most relevant to share with you all and before my large amounts of questioning of books and explanations as to why I haven’t been around and changes I aim to make, remember how I promised recommendations? I have a new one! You guys should check out “Harry Potter, a Slight Remix” by Fred_Weasley on figment. I think I may have an obsession with this person’s work, but last time I told you guys to read a wizarding how-to by him, this time it’s the Sorcerer’s Stone, but with very interesting modifications. I think it’s being well written so far, I mean it holds decently true to the real book, while throwing in some A Very Potter Musical and some very original from the author ideas. I mean who would have thought that Vernon Dursley was a super stylin’ man with awesome ninja skills? Seriously guys, if you’re in need of a good laugh or you need something to read asap but aren’t quite sure what just yet, head on off to figment and read this with me. Best of luck and tell me what you think about it!
Okay, so I suffer from this illness called-procrastination, procrastination is that thing you do where, eh never mind I’ll explain it later. Anyways, this time my procrastination has gotten me away from sharing with you all what my plans for the summer are. So, I believe I have mentioned how much I really want to actually stay here and update on whatever it is that I blog about and will blog about in the future. I also hope to read, because I have slacked real hard on that, I have not been able to sit and read a good bunch of books in years. Which is sad since, well, I kind of enjoy them first of all and second I want to work with them. So, maybe I should befriend them again. So this summer I hope that I can read anything and everything and become a fast paced reader again. No seriously, I feel like I read like a turtle now. When I last sat with the Harry Potter series I read all seven books in a few days. Yes that left me feeling pointless and empty inside but what else can you do when Dementors and Umbridge and the death of Sirius was nearly immediately followed by massive amounts of death in merely days? However, I pulled through this and stopped crying and I did what we must all do when we love books, I moved on. Sort of, I mean seriously, we “the ones we love never truly leave us” so no I didn’t truly leave those crazy Hogwarts kids, and they sure as hell haven’t left me. I mean I quote books more than I can come up with words of my own on normal conversations soo….
Okay, so the thing is, I am going to make a goal to actually read. A lot, and anything and everything I can get my hands on. Since apparently holding others accountable for my progress when I try to do or not do things seems to work, (even if they don’t know I’m doing it in their name) that’s what I am doing now. I am doing this and telling you guys because now, I have to follow through. I will keep you guys updated on how much I read whenever I do post or weekly, anything from articles on blogs, book pages, (which yes I already started two books), stories I find on wattpad and figment, newspaper, magazines, short stories, whatever things I manage to read I will keep track of and I will tell you guys if I find any worth reading.
So to start that off I am going to show you guys a wonderful book I found on figment because since I found it I had to follow this author since this one book alone always manages to make me giggle. So here is Witchcraft and Wizardry for Dummies by Fred_Weasley. This guy has seriously made me laugh and yes, I do reread this book every once in a while because it’s…well read it. And with that people of the world, I shall take my leave for today. Let me know if there is anything you guys are trying to accomplish that you have procrastinated on, and what your plan is for getting to that goal. Best of luck and
